Data collection most likely won't be the most useful thing for me as a hopeful 1st grade teacher. I don't see myself having any data I need to collect from my students unless it's an activity on favorite flavor of ice cream. Excel on the other hand has a lot of uses, that I didn't even knew existed until we learned about it for our skill check. Excel had alway scared me so I stayed as far away as possible. Now that I have kind of learned how to work it, I can see myself inputting my students' grades and assignments into it.
I'm not sure what topics this specific prompt was talking about but I really liked seeing everybody's different opinions on "flipped classroom". I found seeing all the different experiences opened my eyes to more positive and negative aspects of it. I still didn't change my opinion, but I see why some teachers choose to do it.
I would love to learn everything my computer is capable for. I believe there is so much my mac could do, but I'm only skimming the surface. I will probably search the depths of google and absorb as much information as I can. This class has made me realize how much technology can do for teaching and I hope to always learn cool new skills throughout my career.

#9 flipping classrooms and learning new skils
The idea of a flipped classroom is to let students listen/ watch lectures at home, then come to class to do projects and have discussions. Which sounds pretty simple, but I can't help but think of how it wouldn't work. We can ensure students are listening to us in the classroom but we have even less control over what they do at home. Every time we'd be given things to look at before class, I know 75% of the people in my classes didn't actually look at it.
It also seems to have some advantages, such as making it easier for students who are homebound or shy in class to participate. It also is a great way to start and integrate educational technology into students' classrooms and homes. It would also help in situations where students are absent, they wouldn't be missing the actual lesson.
You can visit Khan Academy as an educational videos source.
In our powerpoint for information dissemination I had trouble with the Master slide, I still am not sure I did it right. But overall, I very much liked putting together my own lesson and making it a show. I really felt like I was a teacher while working on this assignment.
In our interactive powerpoint, I learned a lot of new skills and actually really enjoyed making the powerpoint. I like the idea of teaching/reviewing through games so this was very fun for me.

Diigo #5
I really liked the ability to connect and collaborate through diigo. I'm definitely going to use this or some other form of social bookmarking in my future career as a teacher. One person can' t find everything there is to find on the internet, so we have to come together and share to make the giant mess of tools available online, a little smaller and more useful. In order to become a successful teacher, I believe I need to be able to use social bookmarking and tagging and all the other thing we learned through Diigo.

ILP- Class Dojo
For my ILP I put together a Class Dojo. I actually really liked this tool, its a good way to keep parents, students, and the teacher connected. The teacher can reward, penalize, and post stories to the site. It is probably going to be most useful for younger students because each student is given a little monster and is very easy to understand. It also can give teachers a progress report which will show the teacher what the class needs to improve on the most.
#8powerpoint and other teacher things
While getting the tour of the lab, I saw a lot of technologies that I didn't even knew existed. One that I found especially useful was the Echo Smartpen. I find that a lot of students find it difficult to concentrate in class and I believe this pen is a easy solution. We all dose off and doodle sometimes while taking notes and if your using this pen you can touch the pen to your doodles and listen to the lecture from that exact point on.
In Bloom's taxonomy there are 6 levels. We can use powerpoint for each level. For the first level, create, we would create the powerpoint with the most basic structure necessary. In evaluate, you'd put support for what you're teaching. Analyze is where you differentiate and organize your information. Apply is where you may put things in your powerpoint to show how the information is executed and seeing if your students can apply the information in their own ways. For understand, having a section in the powerpoint where the students need to explain what was learned to see if they understand it. Lastly, for remember you can put a short quiz at the end of the powerpoint.

Diigo #4
I learned that assistive technologies aren't just for students who have disabilities. These tools can help every student in the classroom if used in the right way. ESE and ESOL students may need it more but I think it has a positive affect on everyone who uses them.

#7 adaptive technologies
Adaptive technologies are helping students get ahead in their education. Technologies like word prediction software make students type in a quicker and more effective manner. When it comes to students with disabilities, there are a lot of technologies there to help them. I remember in my first couple years of school, a disabled boy in a wheelchair named David was always in my class. He was unable to speak and could barely move even his hands. He was given a computer that he would press buttons in order to communicate. Some challenges, that may occur with adaptive technologies is that is may glitch or mess with the students work. I don't see technology being perfect in the near future.
I learned a lot while making my webpage, since it was my first time. I really liked how simple it was, but it also felt to user friendly. Sometimes I felt like I could place thing exactly where or how I wanted them. Next time I may look into more complicated templates. msmckernan.weebly.com
I actually missed our last class so I didn't do the new Diigo assignment, but I really enjoyed using it. I can actually see myself using this website in the future to collaborate with other teachers.

#6 Schoolin Life
On Jack D Gordon Elementary School's website, they have pages for each class. The one linked is the first grade page. They give information about what the student will go through in first grade then it explains what the students will learn. At the bottom of the page it has a supply list as well. It was actually very difficult for me to find"class pages" I really never heard of them.
The podcast discusses teachers using blogs to accomplish the professional responsibilities I'll have as a teacher. It's a good way to connect with other teachers to share stories and idea to use in the classroom.
When in the Technology Sandbox a lot of pieces of technology looked like they'd be effective in the classroom. The Smartboards seem like they will be the most useful in an Elementary School classroom. It's the perfect way to present information to the student in a way where they can interact with the information given to them. It's easy to use and has a bunch of different features that will be helpful to them. The 3-D printer also had some features that could help a special needs classroom, like the brail dice, which was pretty cool.
Here's my project, I made an Inforgraphic:

Diigo- Web 2.0
Through this activity I've learned that a lot of people encourage the use of social media in the classroom. My teachers always seemed very against even using phones in class, but reading each article and my fellow classmates comments, I see a lot of new and different ways that it can positively affect a classroom.

#5 Web 2.0 & MOOCs
I think all the Web 2.0 tools would be effective in any classroom setting, because it helps create good communication between teachers and their students. We use twitter and blogs in our class and I feel like it has made us closer as a class and helped us share ideas with each other. I also think that if they weren't available learning would go on but it wouldn't be as efficient.
I signed up for delicious and it was pretty easy to sign up for, but there were some sketchy ads. I think it could be very helpful in sharing helpful website for teachers and students. It was very easy to figure out and start using. I think that this will be very useful when I'm a teacher and trying to find different resources to help improve my teaching skills.
I feel like massive open online courses(MOOCs) are the next big thing in education. I think there's a good chance that the future of education will be held in online courses and MOOCs can help those older students who aren't sure about what they want it do with their lives, explore different areas of interest. Frankly I think anything online that's school-related or not is going to become a big part of education in the near future.

Diigo!
I learned that there are millions on online software that's available to teachers and students. We each had to bookmark two websites and rarely anybody bookmarked the same page. Diigo also showed me how teachers sharing bookmarks can save so much time and the teachers can put that extra time towards their students.

#4 Twitter, Divides, and Software
I've had a twitter since the beginning of high school, but I've never been a big tweeter. When I found out I had to tweet for this class, I was a little worried because I didn't know if I'd be able to think of anything to actually tweet. I've been trying to tweet at least twice a week like we are supposed to, but sometimes I just don't know what to tweet. I've interacted with a couple of people from class by favoriting and retweeting them. Twitter may be helpful when I'm a teacher, as a way of communicating with my students and letting them communicate with each other.
Digital divide created an actual divide between students. A digital divide is a gap that appears between students who can afford to use technology and student who can not. Some causes of digital divides are that technology is just so expensive. You would think it would be getting cheaper but it's still hard for some families to prepared their students. In my future classroom I hope to be able to bring the divide together. I never want one of my students to feel like they aren't being given the same opportunities as other students.
Since I plan to teach Elementary School, my student are going to be using simpler technology. I feel like my student will be using tutorial software to introduce new material and possibly even using powerpoint and word, if I have old enough students. I really don't believe my students will be using graphic design software or draw programs. Elementary school students would probably be using adventure and educational games. I remember doing games like that when I was in elementary school, and I feel like it's a vital part of learning.
The E course was pretty cool. I felt like it was easy to read and listen too. Some of the questions confused me but I don't think it has to do with the set-up of the E course. I really liked the whole idea of an E course, it was a fun way of learning information.

#3 Let's get Techy
When looking at the ELA technology standards, I feel like I have a good foundation of information. I didn't read anything and worry that I'd never know how to do it. Like when it says incorporate graphs and charts, I know how to do a simple graph or chart, but I'm not gonna always want to do the easiest or simplest charts, so I still need to learn.
Since I'd like to teach younger Elementary School students (1st/2nd grade) there is going to be a limit of what technology I can have my students use. In this day and age younger kids are very capable of using technology but I don't think they are going to be using the same websites and programs as high schoolers. I'm most likely going to be using pictures, videos, and audios in my classroom to help enhance my teaching. Maybe I could even have my students run a blog each week to work on their typing skills. When it comes to digital citizenship concepts, I'm probably going to have to really enforce them because younger children tend to not understand how mean their words can be. I also will have to teach them how to "protect their personal identities and those of others" to make sure they aren't getting themselves into trouble.
"Open" terms include, open education, open content, and open sources. Teachers use all of these as a way of sharing information and ideas. If you go to this website you can search for what open education resources are available. It's pretty cool to browse through. I also read through this website to extend some of the information explained to us in the podcast. It talks about how some open sources may be difficult to use. For example it may be difficult to remix a scanned handwritten document in order to use it. You need to "make technical choices that enable the greatest number of people possible to engage".
Making this newsletter was probably the most fun I've ever had while doing a college assignment. I learned how I can incorporate graphics with each little section of my newsletter as well as how to make a little slip to cut off at the bottom. Next time I want it to be a little more visibly pleasing, because I feel like there is a lot of white on mine, but overall I'm pretty proud of it. I'm excited to make real ones for my future classroom.

#2 Technology's past, present, and future..
I have used MS word my entire, educational career. I used it to write papers as a student, and I'm pretty sure my teachers would use it to create worksheets and tests. MS word is my go to Microsoft program for all my school work. I feel like it is the easiest to use, but that there is also a lot more to it than I know. I learned a lot about it in my computer class in middle school, but I forget certain elements because it was so long ago.
My teachers and I have never used someone else's work that I know of, but when it comes to my future students I will make sure they know the consequences of not using their own work. It's never worth it to use someone else's work, if you don't understand an assignment, you just need to ask the teacher for help. You could get in so much trouble for using copyrighted material as your own. I would encourage my students everyday, so that they didn't ever feel like they needed to cheat to succeed. When it comes to teachers using other materials, I feel like with the free use guidelines they should never run into any issues. They just need to be smart about how much of a textbook or magazine they are photocopying.
In my classroom I would try and prevent cyberbullying, hacking, and privacy issues. These three issues were all brought up in Chapter 11, which made me see the importance of each issue. To prevent cyberbullying I will teach my students the consequences of posting inappropriate and rude comments. I feel like once students know how much people are affected by things said to them online, they will be safe and kind. When it comes to hacking, I will make sure my students have good protection software to keep viruses of their computers. Also, to make sure their privacy is maintain, I will help them figure out strong passwords to keep people out of their online accounts. These a the three basic issues with students going online, so to take care of these first seems like a good plan.

#1 tech talk
I believe the thing that most influences teachers to use technology is because of teacher preparation accreditation and because of how much it improves their lesson plans and presentation. It's required for almost every teacher to be able to use and understand technology because it's the 21st century and almost everything is online. Also using technology has improved teachers abilities to plan their lesson and teach for almost every learning type. It's also extremely important for students to use technology in the classroom because it helps them to engage more and as well as communicate and collaborate. Sometimes teacher aren't able to give each student as much attention as they need or challenge them as much as they can be challenged, that were technology come into to play. If students are given online resources it can help skyrocket their education. They also can use technology to talk to other classmates and collaborate on projects and homework, it's a very effective way to make relationships and gain communication skills.
ISTE standards are a great way of making sure every teacher is prepared for technology use in the classroom. as well as that internationally everyone is on the same page. One standard that makes me happy is that teachers are meant to encourage students creativity and their learning through technology. Because with or without technology it's always important to try and push students to be there best. One thing I'm not sure I can do yet is design a lesson plan through the use of technology. I'm hoping this class will give me the information I need to be able to prepare my classroom according to these standards.
To be a "digital native" means that you grew up with technology therefore you have a better understanding of it all. I have seen differences between me and my teachers, because most of the time students had to help the teacher figure out computer problems. I feel like it definitely put an obstacle in the way of our learning because somedays everything wouldn't work and it would take the whole class to fix it. I feel like technology is constantly changing so it's possible that my students will have to help me as well, but hopefully we will keep up with the new technology and understand better because of our good foundation.

#0 My first post!
When it comes to technology, I'm far from an expert. I understand very well the technology I use everyday, but I don't actually know that much. I know the most out of everyone in my family so everyone comes to me when the TV isn't working or their phone keeps freaking out but it's always been simple, common sense solutions, like "plug it in" or "restart it". I like finding out new things about technology and how things work. I hope to one day be very literate when it comes to technology.
I hope to learn a more in-depth understanding of technology so that when I'm a teacher, I know how to operate and incorporate technology in my classroom. I believe this class will help prepare me for what I'll need to know in the future. I don't want to be the teacher who is anti-technology because I most likely won't have a job for very long. I would like for this class to make me comfortable enough, so that I can be confident in my future classroom.
I found out I'm an active, intuitive, and visual leaner. Which, when I read the descriptions, makes a lot of sense. I like to be doing something and seeing my solutions forming. I don't do well when a teacher is just talking at me. I find it very hard to concentrate and actually absorb anything they are saying. When it comes to global vs sequential learning, I think I like to do whatever will be faster. If I can just jump to the answer, I will, but sometimes I need to go step by step to get to a solution. I enjoyed this quiz because I think it will help me in the future.
